1. Try a New Baking Recipe
Of course this has to be my number one recommendation on a February bucket list, since baking brings so much joy. It fosters connection, strengthens relationships (with others or yourself), and tastes delicious! February is the perfect time to warm up your kitchen by experimenting with homemade cookies, cupcakes, or a rich chocolate dessert. Check out my post What to Bake in February for simple recipes you'll love.
2. Host a Valentine's Day Celebration
No February bucket list is complete without a nod to Valentine's Day, and spending time with friends and family is the easiest way to feel filled with joy. It doesn't have to be romantic or fancy. Celebrate with friends, kids, or treat yourself to something special. Below are some festive hosting favorites of mine, and here's a collection of my favorite Anthropologie Valentine products.

3. Buy Yourself Flowers
You don't need a special occasion or someone else to gift you flowers—treat yourself! Pick up a bouquet of your favorite blooms to brighten your space and lift your mood. It's a simple act of self-love that adds beauty and joy to your day.
4. Make a DIY Valentine's Craft
I love making handmade cards. For Christmas, my family now expects homemade cards (which is getting more difficult as the years get busier). But I get so much enjoyment out of spreading homemade holiday cheer.
Gather paper, glue, and scissors to make homemade Valentine cards, heart garlands, or DIY love notes for family and friends. I've compiled some cute crafts in my Valentine's Day Pinterest Board.
5. Read a Romantic Book
Romance is definitely one of my top reading genres, and I'm always looking for more captivating romantic novels to read. This February, lay out blankets in the living room, make warm drinks, and enjoy a reading session by yourself or with your family. To keep it festive, read stories about love and friendship:
- Classic Romance Novels: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
- Modern Romance Classics: The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks, The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
- Feel-Good & Cozy Romance: The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion, Book Lovers by Emily Henry, Funny Story by Emily Henry
- Contemporary Romance with Depth: It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover, Beach Read by Emily Henry, You Are Here by David Nicholls
6. Do a Puzzle
I absolutely LOVE puzzles and will find any excuse to do one. Usually, I have to stop myself from starting one, because once I start, I can't stop. Choose a puzzle that's festive for February, something pink and artsy like Art Throb, chocolatey and indulgent like Chocolate Puzzle, or wintery like Après-Ski.

7. Have an Indoor Scavenger Hunt
This one is really fun if you have little kids running around your home. Hide paper hearts around the house for a fun and festive heart hunt. Make it extra special by writing little notes or "acts of love" inside the heart like "give someone a hug" or "do a chore without being asked."
8. Have a Dance Party with Love Songs
I get it, this one may sound a little "woo-woo," but dancing is scientifically proven to increase joy! Physically, dancing can increase muscular strength, endurance and motor fitness. Mentally, dancing can improve your mood, reduce stress, increase your self-esteem, and it even helps develop new neural connections. Turn on this Feel Good Love Mix or Happy Love Songs playlist on Spotify, turn up the volume, and start dancing! Such a simple and fun February bucket list item to cross off.
9. Have a Cozy Movie Night
This year, I'm really making an effort to watch more movies. I tend to re-watch the same four to five shows, and my husband is appalled at how many classic films I haven't seen. So far, it's absolutely bringing me joy.
This February, pick a festive movie with a loving theme and set up a cozy movie night with blankets and popcorn. Some of my favorites:
- Classic Romance: Pride & Prejudice, The Notebook, Titanic
- Feel-Good & Cozy Romance: The Holiday, Sweet Home Alabama
- Modern Romantic Dramas: La La Land, The Vow
- Rom-Com Favorites: Crazy, Stupid, Love, 27 Dresses, Notting Hill
10. Go on a Winter Walk
Studies show that being outside in nature improves mental and physical health, reduces stress, improves mood and sleep, and builds muscle. I try to get outside at least once a day, even if just for a few minutes. The fresh air and a quick walk around the block really does work wonders. Bundle up and enjoy the crisp air while looking for winter wildlife.

11. Plan a Spring Garden
Even though it's still winter, get excited for spring by starting to plan what flowers or vegetables you want to plant in the spring.
12. Learn a New Hobby
There are so many hobbies that are great to learn inside during the colder months. Here's a list for some inspiration: cooking or baking (of course!), painting, drawing, calligraphy, digital art, knitting, writing, photography, embroidery, reading, meditation, yoga, coffee brewing, learning a new language, chess or board games, mixology, the list goes on and on!
13. Visit Your Local Library
Search for a book with love and kindness themes at your local library. Bonus points if you attend a book group or other activity they're hosting. This goes hand-in-hand with number 5, Read a Romantic Book, plus it's free!
14. Donate with Love
Get a jump on spring cleaning! Gather gently used toys, books, or clothes, and donate them together as an act of kindness. We're quickly running out of room in our little 1950s ranch home, so this is definitely one I need to tackle. Also, I just hold on to too much stuff! Time to clear the clutter while it's still cold and dreary outside.
February may be cold, but it's filled with plenty of chances to create warm and joyful moments. Which ones will you check off your list this month? What other fun ideas would you add? Let me know in the comments!
