Why I Started Teaspoon of Grace
My passion for baking strangely didn't relate to my upbringing. Sure, my mom made the best chocolate chip cookies (and I fully admit to stealing too many bites of cookie dough), I was obsessed with my Easy-Bake Oven, and I always brought in homemade treats for my class on my birthday, but I wouldn't say I had those warm and fuzzy memories of grandma baking, and recipes weren't passed down through generations. My passion for baking was more-so reignited when I moved to Atlanta in 2021.
What started as a casual hobby to provide birthday cakes for children in foster care through Cake4Kids while I was working as a Design Consultant quickly turned into a love of baking and food photography and ultimately a new career. I dove head first into every cookbook, TV series, educational course, podcast, and of course, the kitchen. I have put in all the work (and fails) so that you don't have to. You can be successful in round one!
The biggest thing I've learned is that anyone can bake (both delicious and impressive desserts) with the right support. My goal is to take you step-by-step with process photos and detailed notes, guiding you through each recipe.
Fast forward to 2024
I decided to leave my corporate consulting job of 6 years to turn my passion into a business. I've taken my Masters Degree in Business education and work experience of helping clients through tough situations, keeping the end user in mind, always being curious, and understanding that 'done is better than perfect' (you have to be agile!) and put it to work for Teaspoon of Grace.
I believe that baking and sharing homemade treats fills the world with warmth and love. My hope is to inspire a sense of beauty and pleasure (and, of course, a love for sweets), encourage you to try something new, and add a teaspoon of grace in your home. I hope you feel the same love, care, and connection through nature and baking as I do. Food is truly what brings us together and should be celebrated.
